OPERE NUOVE
NO WORDS
- INTERNATIONAL NO WORDS AWARD to the best film € 1.500
LE JOUR DE GLOIRE by Bruno Collet
For the perfect adhesion between
stylistic choices and content. The work emphasizes the rhetoric of
heroism against the horrors of war, using a mixed technique of
great emotional and evocative effectiveness.

- SPECIAL AWARD OF THE JURY € 500
EL EMPLEO by Santiago 'Bou' Grasso
For the originality of the
proposed narrative solution for a “classical” subject
like the one of manipulation of the individual.
|
- MENTION
TEMBUR by Hannes Treiber
For the attention given to the
violation of human rights (here referred to the Kurdish
situation), through a story of immigration and slow regaining of a
“normality”.
|
- MENTION
THIS WAY UP by Smith & Foulkes
For the refined animation that
does duty for an amusing and amused black humour.

SHORTFILMEXPERIMENT
BOLZANO SHORTFILMFESTIVAL
- BEST ANIMATION AWARD € 500
MONSIEUR COK by Franck Dion
For the
refined graphic execution that allowed to highlight the gloomy
atmosphere of an authoritarian and mechanical world, and for the
sophisticated animation that, without falling off to decorative
mannerisms, typical of 3D, turns out to be effective and
expressive.

- YOUTH JURY AWARD € 300
EL EMPLEO by Santiago 'Bou' Grasso
It is
an animation that stands out for its naturalness.
The
atmosphere that the film is able to create, thanks to the
chromatic choices and to an almost minimalist sound performance,
is reflected in the impersonality common to all characters, who
are consenting pawns in the game of solitary resignation without
conditions. The individual identity of each character is levelled
out – exactly as a figure that has been drawn without any
depth – on his/her own role inside the machine-society,
coinciding eventually with the service that he/she offers, without
losers or winners. The technical performance is flawless and the
rhythm is functional and organic to the course of the story.
“El Empleo”
encountered favour for its simplicity and lucidity, at the same
time ironic and bitter, with which it is able to suggest a
critical look on our present.
